This year, the first graders will be developing skills that will guide them in the years to come. Most importantly, they will gain a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith and I will do my best to show them the importance of having a relationship with Christ. "WWJD" (What Would Jesus Do) will be a main focus in our classroom. Some exciting things we will do this year include: further developing the students' ability to read (we will read lots!), adding and subtracting larger numbers, and studying science topics such as the human body! This year I plan to show my first graders how much fun learning can be through experiments and hands-on activities.
I have been teaching at Assumption since the Fall of 2015. In the Spring of 2015, I student-taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Atchison, Kansas.
I attended Assumption from kindergarten through eighth grade and graduated in 2007. I then went to high school at Ursuline Academy. After high school, I attended Benedictine College where I studied Elementary Education and graduated in May of 2015.
Degrees: Elementary Education
Certification: Kansas certificate in Elementary Education (K-6)
I love to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. I also spend a lot of time playing sports and exercising. In my free time, I like to cook, bake, watch movies, and keep up with television shows.
I am extremely excited to be teaching at my Alma Mater! I have many great memories of Assumption and I can't wait to make more. I grew up in South St. Louis County with my parents, three older brothers, and one younger sister. I attended Catholic school from kindergarten through college and am forever grateful to my parents for that gift. In college, I played on the women's soccer team at Benedictine College. Athletics have been a huge aspect of my life and I plan to incorporate my love of movement and activity into my classroom through hands-on activities as much as possible.
